So many regular customers have asked if we were going to change the name from "Shady Lawn" to something else. I just wasn't sure. Nothing felt right. We played around with a lot of names. Even going so far as to play with the edgy "Slave to the Grind." (Because you know, it's why we buy the decadent brewed goodness). Then I was listening to "License to Ill" by the Beastie Boys and "Slow and Low" came on. BOOM! It just felt right. "Let it flow. Let yourself go. Slow and low, that is the Tempo." I'm a musician. Music is a huge part of my life. At one time playing professionally, being a worship director, writing for others, even managing some independent artists back in the early 2000s. It would just make sense that music would influence the name of the shop. Heck, even "Slave to the grind" is the title of Skid Row's second album. Our shop is described perfectly in those lyrics, from 1986. "Let it flow (the conversation, the coffee, the community), Let yourself go. Slow and Low (Come in. Chill. Relax). That is the Tempo. Hopefully you'll like the new name and you'll come in and join the Tempo.

You may hear it from others, but we thought of it first. You will no longer be up charged for alternatives milks. You want Oat? Have a bushel of it! Almond? Go Nuts! Goat? Ok, we don't have goat but no matter which milk you want, you won't have a surcharge for it. Enjoy the brew!
